All hands on deck
Published Date: September 26th, 2007We are a bit disturbed by a nasty rumor going around the savtropolis. Yesterday a friend of ours was tickets for parking his 49cc scooter on the sidewalk. He has parked here many a day. As he was talking his way out of it the meter maid let go of some information. The city has voted to eliminate sidewalk parking for scooters of any sort. WHAT? THEY ELIMINATED WHAT? I am putting out an official APB. Someone, say it ain’t so. Say it ain’t so.

Aw-ight scooter homies, I got the 411. (I’m lame.)
There is a state law that bans parking scooters or any vehicles on sidewalks, but the city has never actively enforced it. And that won’t change.
“As long as they aren’t blocking free passage on the sidewalk we will still allow them to park there,” Jim Gilliamsen, the marketing guy for Parking Services told me.
He mentioned there is also free parking for scooters inside the Bryan Street garage.
However, I do recall some plan that was being devised to create some on-street parking for scooters and motorcycles. I don’t know what happened with that.
