Leaving Savannah

Published Date: July 25th, 2007

A couple of us on the team here are interested in a weekend away from SAV. We have no destination in mind. Rather, we were wondering if any of you have flown out of here kind of last minute. If so, where did you go? What were prices like? Do you know anywhere else to find deals? So far we have seen $192/person to NYC if we leave Friday at 6am. There must be better than that. Give me the scoop, my friends!

I find AirTran has the best deals to fly you out of Savannah, especially at the last minute. But in order to get the deals you have to fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Probably not really a ‘weekend’ getaway.

AirTran does seem to be the only true discount option out of Savannah. Of course, you could leave at whatever time you like on Friday and be in Jesup, Ga. in a matter of an hour! How’s THAT for a getaway?

Check out Airfarewatchdog.com - sometimes they have some good deals there, although most weekends are not available. Kayak.com is another site for looking up air fare. I’m not sure about a website with last minute specials though. Perhaps Cheaptickets.com? AirTran is always good. We found our tickets for our trip to Halifax through Kayak. Going to Boston was less than $200.

There’s always a road trip - for two people driving to New Orleans is cheaper than flying if you split the gas money.
