Where have y’all been, they ask
Published Date: July 14th, 2007Between vacations, day job schedules, and unfortunate accidents (in the form of a tourist plowing into my personal and very parked vehicle), things have been crazy lately. I did promise a bit over a week ago to come back read to blog starting with a top summer libations list. I shall not go back on my word. So, without further excuse or ado, here is my list.
Top 5 Summer Libations in Savannah
- Large lemonade from Little Miss Sunshine. Parked on Wright Square most days, this little kiosk serves up the sweetest, freshest lemonade I have tasted in Georgia. The ladies that work there are nice and are always up for some small talk. At less then $3 a cup, the price isn’t too bad either!
- Pabst Blue Ribbon tallboy from Hangfire. Besides the most understated, underrated, yet highly enjoyable little bar in downtown Savannah, this is also the only place we know of to get a PBR tallboy almost any time of the day. Not to mention Wednesday night Karaoke.
- Mint Chocolate Frappucino from Starbucks. Say what you want about the place being too corporate or overpriced. You can’t beat a cold, grande, coffee drink to cool you off and pick you up on those hot summer afternoon walks down Broughton Street.
- A glass of House Chardonnay poolside at the Westin. So what if you have to ferry across or take the bridge. I don’t even care that poolside is intended for guests only. There is little to rival taking in the sunset poolside on the Savannah River. The house chardonnay is not the finest wine but it is good, affordable, and always a cool, citrusy flavor.
- The Chocolate Milkshake from Leopolds Ice Cream. Over-priced? Emphatically yes. Tasty? OMG in heaven! You may not go this summer without one (unless you are lactose intolerant…even then you should consider it).
