Where have all the students gone?

Published Date: May 29th, 2007

I have noticed lately that the downtown area is less populated by students. With somewhere near 7000 students graduating SCAD alone it is time for that mass exodus in our fair city. I often wonder though how this effects our local economy and our local businesses. Do the students pump that much money into the system? Aside from restaurants and art stores, who else is hit hard by this academic ebb and flow? If this an increasing problem (which I have heard it is), what are we doing to combat it? I don’t see a push to substitute the students in the summer with tourists or conventions or anything of that nature. Whatever the case, at least I can find parking now!!!!!!!!!!

Blog My Dust ‘07. Just what does that mean anyway?

They all moved to the Dirty Southside because they can’t afford the rents downtown.

And where is your “Blog my Dust” tagline?

Hey, I resent that remark Mr. Larson. Southside isn’t all that dirty. We have some scenic stuff going down.

I know, I’ll take pictures. That’s if you’ll be able to view them through that “dusty” monitor of yours. =O)

I live in the southside ghetto and I like it here. I interchange the terms just to tweak Floyd Adams and play off the Dirty South rap genre.

Much luve to the Southside.
