Get your motor running

Atlanta 285
Ok, so Atlanta is not exactly Savannah. It is close enough though for this mention. I picked up ‘Atlanta Magazine’ this morning at the local B&N and as I was reading the Best of 2006 I saw a mention of my personal friends and their interstate hijinks around the perimeter or 285 as some of you may know it.

The ATL crew sounds like a lot of fun
but I am glad I was not behind them on the perimeter.

55 MPH? Not enough SUV roll-overs at that speed.
On December 22nd (Friday before Xmas weekend) I counted 7 roll-overs while on an ATL excursion. Seven roll-overs.

Recipe for seven incidents of roll-overs on the perimeter:
Start with a slight rain, sprinkle in pre-Xmas tension, stir it up when someone jerks the wheel, and away we go!

Until such time as the State of Georgia tackles the process of driver education and introduces a driving test that demands that you actually can drive before you pass, then addressing the problem with reduced speed limits and fines is completely asinine. It in no way deals with the problem that many licensed drivers are completely clueless as to the basic requirements of safe, defensive driving.

You’re not suggesting anything so cavalier as using turn signals and such are you? That would be revolutionary and I would have to turn you into the authorities for transit treason.
