Weren’t the diesel fumes enough?

Holiday Trolley

Excerpts taken from Old Town Trolleys

The 2006 holiday season heralds the return of The Holly Jolly Holiday Trolley Tour to Savannah. Our conductor “elves” are delighted to entertain and amuse guests with tales of our favorite Holiday Traditions. Guests will enjoy caroling from the Trolley as they pass by festively decorated historic homes and city squares. The Holly Jolly Holiday Trolley is offered 30 nights throughout November and December and includes 2 stops; the historic Isaiah Davenport House and the Savannah Candy Kitchen. At the Davenport House, guests will be transported back to the 1820’s to get a glimpse at a typical 19th century family holiday. Enjoy cookies and cider in the garden before re-boarding the trolley blah, blah, blah, blah…..

I understand that the trolley tours are a huge perk to commerce and tourism here in the host city. I am also very pleased to see some of the trolleys looking into diesel substitutes and other energy-efficient methods. However, there is NO…I repeat NO…excuse for the blaring Christmas tunes the trolleys are now pumping out of their speakers. So, what we have now are trolleys that hold up traffic on a regular basis polluting our ears with unintelligible amplified tour guide talk all the while being drowned out by the sounds of Bing Crosby up and down every block!
