The Savannah Day Parade

Turkey Balloon

Imagine if Savannah, the hostess city as it were, had a Thanksgiving Day parade. Wouldn’t that be something? We would all head over to Forsyth Park on Wednesday around 3pm to watch the teams blow up the balloons of Paula Deen, Johnny Mercer, and Stratton Leopold? In true Savannah fashion we would already be holding beer in hand wearing ridiculous khaki pants that had turkeys on them or something. Ah. What a day of celebration. The judging booth would be just off Clary’s on East Jones Street. It would be there that the Highland Dancer girls would shine and the cast of the Savannah Theatre would put on a 4-5 display of artistry. All this followed by an art show at the waters edge. It would be something, huh?

Hey, what would be one float or balloon you would like to see in the Savannah Day Parade?

Floyd Adams. Save the air - just put ropes on him and tell him to hold his breath.

Certainly you don’t mean Savannah’s first black mayor and Doug Banks Show Hometown Hero? My, my, my.

A big float that represents Savannah. Hrm, let’s see. How about a big school bus float for Laidlaw/First Student. The bus would be empty and there would be all these little balloons floating behind it in the form of children, having to walk to school.

Was that too cruel? ;)

Too cruel? NEVER! I was hoping for a Paul Deen balloon that if popped would spew gravy all over the crowd!
