How does a Savannian eat?
Published Date: October 13th, 2006A lot of people write little articles and such that say something to the effect of “Eat Like a Savannian”. I am not quite sure what that means unless you plan on picking up some groceries from Kroger near Forsyth Park or having a cup of morning coffee from one of the 2 million Parker’s that tattoo the landscape of MLK Boulevard, Victory Drive, Abercorn Street, etc. Assuming it means eating out where Savannians eat out though, I think eating like a Savannian for me now includes hitting up Queeny’s To Go-Go on Habersham Street. It may be gay friendly according to its marketing but it is NOT artery friendly. Serving up some of the most beautiful fried chicken I have seen in a while, crispy french fries, empanadas, and corn pudding………mmmmm-mmmm. Queeny’s is a must visit. The price was right at about $12/person (including tip and a bottle of wine) and the service was quite attentive. I was a little turned off by the live music selection. She sort of reminded me of the receptionist at Goodyear tire who had saved up enough money for a little drum machine to accompany her equally inexpensive keyboard. We left fat and happy though. This weekend I recommend you head over to Queeny’s and order up something fried. Worry about your health in some other town!
