Let’s be honest with ourselves. The Spin Doctors are hardly a new band. They are hardly a German band. They are hardly a band at all! So why then are they playing at the Oktoberfest on River Street? Because they are cheap….maybe even free! If you take the time to paruse their site (which…let me warn…will cause you to lose time in your life that you will never get back) you will realize that they have nothing else to do except play street festivals, the occasional pub, and retro shows with the Gin Blossoms. Now, I will admit that I used to know all the words to “Little Ms. (Can’t Be Wrong)…but that was circa 1994. This is twelve years later. Who plans the festivals around this town? Do we really have to upset the weiner dogs and half drunk fifth-generation-removed Germans with the sounds of an over-the-hill pop-grunge band. What’s next? Blues Traveler in Forsyth?
