Farm-Aid: North America’s private band aid
Published Date: October 1st, 2006Since Thursday of this past week Savannah’s own Farmer’s Almanac TV has been in Camden, New Jersey for the annual Farm Aid concert. The concert basically provides revenue so that the Farm Aid charity can provide financial assistance, crisis assistance, and grant programs to the nations remaining farmers. Ordinarily this would be just another blip on the entertainment/advocate map for us in Georgia. But much more is at stake. Georgia is vying to be the host of the concert next year and Farmers Almanac TV hopes to lead the way. Note: According to a University of Georgia study, one in every seven Georgians works in an agriculturally related sector of our economy. That translates to 85,000 jobs and $7 billion in annual revenue.
